There was only one 10km section of the 90 that I was not hammered in the face by a headwind. That 10km section was the only one I could get over 20km/hr - barely.
The elevation profile for this section meant nothing. I barely went faster downhill and I could hardly tell I was going uphill. The wind beat me up. 8 hours to ride 90km ... a few weeks ago I rode 100km in 3 and half hours. Yesterday, had some breaks from the wind and some downhills but not today. There was no magestic scenery today either. I barely bothered to take any pictures.
This was the first time riding through farmland. The fields were green and these Utah towns are definetly more prosperous than the Nevada ones we rode through. Milford and Minorsville both had real streets with some nice houses. The Nevada towns mostly looked like a meth mess.
So I'm going to take tomorrow off ... as Laurie likes to say "You were 16 years younger last time". Also, I have no schedule and I want to enjoy the next section, not just grind it out. It will be a nice climb which will take most of the morning, some stunning views, a few towns and Bryce Canyon.
A day off sounds like a good thing.
