I was meeting my cousin for lunch - ssshh, don't tell Bill - so I started late. I now get up at 6am for some reason so I puttered around the hotel room drinking coffee. I made a video ... actually GoPro made a video ... but I posted it to FaceBook.
It was only about 20km to Old Town Sac ... I thought it was further, hmmm ... so I was early. It was really pleasant before 11am. Lunch was great and fun to catch up with Francie.
She gave me her fries. Francie is my favorite cousin.
When I got on the road the heat of the day was upon me. My phone started getting Excessive Heat Warning alerts. The ride along the American River Trail was nice as always but I did not push it in the heat. When I got into Folsom it seemed to get even hotter. The bike trails were really nice and had some shade but riding in those temperatures is never enjoyable.
I was cooked when I got into the air conditioning of the hotel lobby. Better now after washing my gear and taking a shower. In a few minutes I meet a couple of work friends that live in the area for dinner.
Tomorrow is a long day and I have a 5:30am start. I'm climbing a mountain (booo!) but it will be a lot cooler (yeah!). The goal is to finish tomorrow's post after losing $20 at the roulette table.
