Day 20 - Bivvi Hostel to Montrose

This was a very uneventful day.  I slept in to 6am; got some food - coffee, a bagel in a package with cream cheese and a banana - at the Bivvi and hit the road at 8.

It was a pretty and easy 500m climb to the summit.  The roads today were smooth and most of the way I had a wide shoulder.  Occasionally, it would shrink from 6 feet wide to 3 inches ... usually when the traffic both ways was the heaviest.
The descent was long and fast and I got to Ridgway - why no "e"? - around 10 and since I was halfway with mostly down hill to go, I looked around town.  Had a coffee and found a place for breakfast.  Huevos rancheros went down well.  I don't know if I can eat American food any more.
The ride into Montrose was fast but the Saturday traffic was pretty heavy so it wasn't all that enjoyable.  It got hotter and drier the lower I got.  Too much traffic and heat to stop and take pictures so I have none.  Besides, it looks a lot like California around here.

My pedal for the last few days was clicking.  I burn through a lot of pedals and that is usually the first sign.  In a few more days it would get worse and worse so I took advantage of a bike shop in Montrose and got a new pair.  Much smoother!
I arrived at the motel before 1pm and the guy was not very friendly at first and said I had to come back at 3.  I think he started to feel a little sympathetic and said 2pm and there was a Mexican place across the street where I could get lunch.  I could eat.
That's about it ... uneventful day.  Good easy ride, early finish.
