I feel like I forgot something important but it's too late now ... I am on the road. There are stores and anything at home isn't going anywhere.
After a casual ride down Market Street in light Memorial Day traffic I found the ferry dock behind the Ferry Building. I was 20 minutes early and was about to make myself comfortable when I see a guy with a really loaded down bike. Natually, I said "Hi" and asked where he was headed. "New York". Instant connection.
Forest is from Seoul, Korea. He started in Seattle, came down the coast and is now heading out to New York. He cried when he lifted my bike.
He was not prepared for the first day of summer heat of the Central Valley. My bike computer showed 45C and somebody said it as 106F. The temperatures a week ago were in the mid-20s and this is the very first day of over 30. Hello summer!
The ACA route was quite nice. I have ridden a lot of the roads around here and had been on a few we rode today, but over all this was a nice way to get here ... I haven't a route that is better.
When we arrived in Davis, Forest was pretty tired so I made him have a beer.
I checked into my hotel and we parted ways. If he gets an early start as I advised I will probably pass him at some point tomorrow.
After cleaning up, I walked next door and found a pretty good dim sum place. This was far better than the other choices of Carl's Jr or KFC. I ordered dim sum for 2 and almost finished it! Picture is missing the already eaten fluffy pork buns.
Tomorrow is another easy day ... the last easy one. I am meeting my cousin for lunch in Sacramento so it will be a late start.
I was going to try to put a video together but between a day in the hot sun and a belly full of dim sum ... TV is going to win out.
